5th Grade

Mrs. Helen Powell
About Your Teacher

I have been teaching at BVM School for most of my teaching career because it is the best place to, “Learn, grow and worship.” My favorite grades to teach are 4th, 5th, and 6th. My favorite subjects to teach are Social Studies and ELA. When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, reading, and walking my dog. My favorite foods are pizza, cheeseburgers, ice cream, and chocolate chip cookies.

Mission For The Class

Our class mission is to treat each and every student with respect. We
strive to become responsible individuals. Each day our goal is to be the
best we can.

Fifth grade students are expected to be responsible, be respectful and be focused on learning.
Students should come to school prepared to learn everyday. Students should have all necessary books, pencils, pens, paper, and copybooks. Students are expected to put forth their best effort at all times.

Homework is assigned nightly and should be neat and complete. Homework is corrected in class everyday. Studying is also required nightly and will be assessed through quizzes.

Tests are announced in advance and posted on the homework web page. They are sent home on Thursday and should be signed and returned on Friday
